Erica Cramer, LMSW

Whether you are facing a personal or professional dilemma, I am here to lend an unbiased ear and helping hand. I am a solution-focused therapist who is dedicated to helping people make sustainable changes in their lives (not merely putting bandaids on situations). I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process, with interventions tailored to meet each client’s individual needs. My mission as a therapist is to get to the root of the problem and help clients of all ages create toolboxes that they can carry with them throughout their daily lives.

Relationship Guru
Relationships are challenging. Whether you are searching for “The One” on countless dating apps or have been in a committed partnership for many years, it is important to have a neutral person to help you navigate challenging terrain. I am the type of person who will listen to your problems and help you develop solutions that are most appropriate for your circumstances. For people who are single, I can help you develop concrete dating plans, figuring out what exactly you are looking for in a partner, and search for partners who make the most sense with your specific attachment style. For people who are in relationships, I can help you solve a specific issue in the relationship or a systemic problem that may be more complicated. Regardless of your relationship status, I have a proven track record of helping clients with boundaries, communication, and intimacy issues.

Professional Development
Before pursuing a career in social work, I worked in the fashion industry for a well-known luxury goods company. I have firsthand knowledge of what it is like to navigate a complicated bureaucracy and deal with difficult personalities on your rise to the top. I am firm believer that it is important to ask for what you want; however, there are many different ways to approach the same situation. I am good at helping clients find a professional voice that remains true to who they are as individuals and overcome job-related challenges that they experience in an effective manner. Professional development also includes assisting clients who are embarking on an exciting, new career or an entrepreneurial venture.

Teen Advocate and Mentor
In the era of iPhones and Instagram, being a teenager is quite complicated. With modern technology, bullying and peer pressure can extend far beyond the classroom and be a 24/7 ordeal. I utilize my firsthand experience of working in a high school to help teens overcome the challenges of growing up in this day and age. I carefully listen to their problems and help them develop concrete solutions that make the most sense in their lives. When I work with teens, I make it clear to them that therapy is a collaborative partnership and that we are equals working on the same team. I help teenagers with self-esteem, communication, relationships, and a variety of other issues. I supplement talk therapy with interactive activities, artistic projects, and humor to help make the therapeutic process more enjoyable for them.

How I Can Help
Many of my clients tell me that their biggest issue with therapists they have seen in the past is that they just sit there and listen. My style is interactive, direct, and genuine. I think a strong therapeutic alliance is a key ingredient in therapy and it is important to be able to engage in honest conversations with your therapist. I believe that therapy is a collaboration between two experts (one being the client who knows themselves the best). If I make a suggestion and the client does not think it makes sense for their life, it is important that they tell me and we brainstorm alternative solutions together.

More About Me
When I am not at home binge-watching Netflix, you can find me spinning, hiking, or shopping. I also love traveling the world (nowhere is off limits) and reading psychology books. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my dog. It is also important to me to make a difference in the world and I like to do volunteer work whenever I have the opportunity.
