Jessica Glynn, LMSW

Hi! My name is Jessica and I am a licensed social worker and therapist. As a social worker and therapist, I believe deeply in trust to elicit healing and change. I work with clients to not only build trust with me, but to start trusting themselves and their capabilities. This allows them to do the work needed to make changes in areas of their lives where they may be struggling or have the desire to feel more fulfilled.

As Thomas Edison once said, “There is no substitute for hard work.” I identify hard work as anything that challenges an individual, however big or small, and the willingness to put forth effort to overcome and resolve said challenges. I have helped motivate clients by identifying their fears and avoidances, and challenging their inner critical voice to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. I enjoy coaching professionals through tough interpersonal issues at work and working to establish a clear sense of what might be holding them back in progressing in their careers. I also work with interpersonal communication in other areas of clients’ lives and help determine where disconnects lie between partners, family members, friends, and other important people in the individual’s life.

Anxiety and Depression Destroyer
Anxiety and depression can cause us to be harsh on ourselves by bringing our fears to the forefront of our mind and bullying us into thinking we cannot do something. I help identify the language and inner dialogue that clients have that bully them into turning away from what they want (avoidance), and work to change that direction to moving toward their fear. My goal is to help clients get to a place where they can say to that fear that holds them back from feeling confident, empowered, and worthwhile, “you don’t scare me anymore.” By finding trust in ourselves, thoughts, and capabilities, we can learn to love ourselves and be confident in who we are.

Professional Developer
We often get stuck in our professional lives and do not know what direction to take our next steps in. Sometimes this happens because we skip step A and jump to hyper-focusing on step Z, which can feel overwhelming and seem impossible to get to. This is because it is impossible to get to Z without taking all of the necessary step in between. I help clients shift focus to more tangible goals that are within their control and to build the necessary path toward the end goal of what they really want. I help clients to identify issues such as personal obstacles, interpersonal issues with colleagues, and self-esteem issues that hinder us from saying "no" when necessary, and "yes" to the right things for them and their growth.

Communication Builder
Communication can be extremely difficult because, if we are being honest, it is pretty hard to understand what someone else wants or needs from us. And inversely, it is also hard to be vulnerable enough to tell others what we want and need from them. Through role playing, insight, and empathy building, I help couples understand what it is that they need from one another and how this can be getting lost in their communication patterns. Similarly, I can help individuals identify these disconnects on their own and bring it back to their relationships outside of session.

How I Help
What I feel is most important in my work is providing a space that is completely judgment free where one can feel safe and comfortable. This lends for a therapeutic relationship that is built on trust and support. I apply cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, psychodynamic, and mindfulness theories in my work. With these components, plus a client’s motivation for change, there is a working dynamic that is created that can lead to powerful and truly awesome outcomes!

More About Me
My two favorites things to do are laugh and explore. On my down time I love to travel and explore new cities and their awe-inspiring elements. I like to takes jogs or go on hikes in most places that I visit. My exploration doesn’t just stop in the outside world. I also love to explore and work on myself constantly. There are always new things I find out about myself which enhances my work with clients. I’d like to think I have a good sense of humor and find laugher to be very uplifting. I can be caught laughing to myself while watching a silly animal video or two, as I also have a deep love for our furry friends of all shapes and sizes.
