Sherry Atanasio, LMSW is a licensed master social worker at Cobb Psychotherapy. She has experience working with young adults, adults, and older adults. Her specialities include depression, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, co-occurring substance abuse, work/life balance, and relationship issues.
Her authentic, compassionate, and person-centered manner puts clients at ease within a non-judgemental therapeutic environment. Sherry received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Harbor UCLA and is in the process of certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is dedicated to assisting her clients with these modalities as well as providing supportive and mindfulness-based interventions. Sherry embraces the philosophy that everyone should have a "life worth living," and collaborates with clients seeking purpose and healing within their lives.
Sherry helped successfully implement the first fully adherent DBT program at a community Mental Health clinic which was part of the LA County Department of Mental Health. Sherry ran a DBT skills group with individual DBT for a year before joining the team at Cobb Psychotherapy.
Sherry studied psychology in her undergraduate program and received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California.
